If there’s one thing Netflix’s Bridgerton franchise is known for, it’s the steamy, dreamy sex scenes. Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story is no exception. The Bridgerton prequel, set during the early years of Queen Charlotte (India Amarteifio) and King George III’s (Corey Mylchreest) marriage, doesn’t skimp on the sexiness. While it might take Charlotte and George a hot minute to get together, once they consummate their marriage, they seemingly can’t take their hands off each other. However, Queen Charlotte stars India Amarteifio and Corey Mylcreest revealed that they shot one “taboo” sex scene for the series that was cut because it simply didn’t work.

Slight spoilers for Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, but after Charlotte and George wed, it’s made clear to the young royals that they must do their duty. That is, produce a royal heir. The two take their duties so seriously they agree to have sex on “even days” as a rule. However, as we see in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story Episode 3 “Even Days,” both newlyweds might be way more into their toils than they want to admit. Even though Charlotte and George are at odds at this point in the story, they seem to passionately take to their love-making… even if both are too stubborn to admit it.

What follows is a hilarious reversal of Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and the Duke’s (Regé-Jean Page) honeymoon sequence in Bridgerton Season 1. Instead of enjoying the early days of marital bliss, Charlotte and George seem to be essentially hate-f*cking (for lack of a better word). The good news is this sequence is very steamy. The wilder news is that Corey Mylchreest and India Amarteifio are still haunted by shooting one sex scene in particular for “Even Days” that wound up on the cutting room floor.

When Decider met Amarteifio and Mylchreest during a recent New York City press day, we asked the Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story stars which part of the aforementioned sequence in “Even Days” was most memorable to them even now. They began by saying the scene in the dining room, when the two begin to make love in front of their shocked staffs…but then things took a turn.

Corey Mylchreest said, “There’s a sequence with some grapes that didn’t quite make —”

“Ugh.” India Amarteifio echoed, “That didn’t make the cut.”

“We haven’t spoken about the grapes in about nine months,” Mylchreest said.

Amarteifio lightly slapped her knee in frustration. “Because I don’t want to speak about the grapes.”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah.”

“It’s a taboo.”

“Yeah, that was not, it was not good,” Mylchreest said. “The brilliant thing about Tom [Verica] is that he —”

“Our director,” Amarteifio explained.

“Ah, yes, thank you.”

“It’s alright. I’ve got you. I’ve got you,” she said.

“She does have this habit of interrupting me,” Mylchreest adorably half-complained as Amartefio sarcastically shook her head.

“So Tom has brilliant ideas and will just have an image of something and go for it,” Mylchreest said. “And I think the grapes was probably the one time in six months of shooting that didn’t work out. It was a slow motion [chuckles] sequence that was squashing of grapes on face.”

“Uh, yeah…that moment is probably the most memorable. How about you?”

“Yeah,” Amarteifio agreed. “And I think because there was so many people in the room.”

“Yes! There were so many people in the room!”

“Like, we would literally have to do that in front of all those people,” Amarteifio said before Mylchreest revealed that one very important person in the scene was absent.

While audiences will see that Charlotte’s man Brimsley (Sam Clemmett) and the King’s man Reynolds (Freddie Dennis) come to their lieges’ aid by shuffling onlookers out, one of those devoted servants wasn’t actually there.

“Sam’s not in that scene,” Mylchreest said. “Sam, who plays younger Brimsley. He was greenscreened in later.”

“The more you know…” Amarteifio confirmed.
