Shemar Moore will make a special appearance on The Young and the Restless in honor of the show’s 50th anniversary.

The episode is set to air next week on May 8.

Moore first appeared in the daytime drama in 1994 as Malcolm Winters and won three NAACP Image Awards for the role for Outstanding Actor in a Daytime Drama Series.

Additionally, he won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

In a special teaser clip, Malcolm is shown returning to Genoa City to reunite with his family. While visiting, Malcolm spots a portrait of his late brother Neil, portrayed by Kristoff St. John, and reflects on his legacy.

“There he is. Besides, y’all know me, when it came to the great Neil Winters, I show up. Whatever it takes,” Malcolm tells his family.

The scene is a heartfelt moment as St. John portrayed Neil from 1991 to 2019 until his sudden death from a heart condition. After the actor’s death, the character was written off on the show. At the time of his death, Moore wrote, “This ain’t goodbye, Brother. Watch me make you proud!! We will be together again. I love you Kristoff!”

Moore, who had departed the soap opera in 2005, returned to reprise his character for a two-episode run in tribute to the late actor. Beforehand, he returned for a guest appearance in 2014. Between 2005 and 2014, the character was portrayed by Darius McCrary.

After his acting debut in The Young and the Restless, Moore went on to star in a variety of television shows and movies, including Chicago Hope and Diary of a Mad Black Woman. He later booked the main role of Derek Morgan in Criminal Minds, followed by Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson in S.W.A.T., a role that he currently holds.

The long-running drama has been celebrating its special anniversary since mid-March, welcoming back an array of alums, including Michael Damian, Patty Weaver, Tricia Cast, Barbara Crampton and Veronica Redd. Paramount+ and CBS also celebrated with a “25 Days to 50” countdown, which featured cast members recalling their favorite scenes from the series.
