With DeMarco Morgan and Eva Pilgrim officially set to take over the third hour of Good Morning America months after T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach‘s scandalous shakeup at ABC, sources have told Entertainment Tonight that the replacements are “no surprise.”

According to the source, the duo’s “overall chemistry, good rapport with one another, and general likability, not only amongst the audience watching, but among staff across ABC News,” helped them get the job.

Pilgrim has worked at ABC News since 2015 as a New York-based correspondent, while also co-anchoring Good Morning America on the weekends since 2018.

“Eva has always been kind and dedicated to her work, and a staple at ABC for more than seven years, so it’s no surprise she would be selected to lead GMA3 into a new era,” the source said.

As for DeMarco, who joined ABC News in 2022 after leaving his anchoring gig at KCBS in Los Angeles, the source claims he has “risen to the challenge and stepped up to the plate over the past few months, essentially uprooting his life in L.A. to make the move to NYC, and that did not go unnoticed.”

They added, “He’s charming, has charisma and seems to get along well with Eva. It’s a new era for GMA3.”

The source also noted that the pair, who has appeared together as guest hosts of GMA3 numerous times, will bring “much-needed diversity to an hour that was already lacking.”

The official announcement comes nearly four months after Holmes and Robach parted ways with ABC as a result of their illicit affair. They are each separated from their spouses while they continue their relationship and reportedly are shopping around an “up close and personal” talk show that would give audiences a closer look into their personal lives.

GMA3 airs on weekdays at 1 p.m. ET on ABC.
