Seth Rogen slammed streaming service execs while walking the green carpet at the premiere of his latest Apple TV+ series, Platonic.

Joined by his co-stars and longtime friends Rose Byrne and Carla Gallo, Rogen called streaming services out for their infamously secretive nature regarding viewership numbers.

Industry heavyweights like Netflix, Disney+ and HBO Max often use vague terms like “most watched” or “biggest premiere” to tout their popular new releases, and rarely, if ever, share actual, concrete stats — and Rogen has taken notice.

“I’m personally distressed by not having any sense of how successful these shows and movies we make for streaming services are,” he said, per Variety. “The secretiveness only makes me think that they’re making way more money off of all of us than they want to share with anybody.”

He continued, “These executives are making insane salaries that you would only make if you are running an incredibly profitable business.”

Both Rogen and Byrne voiced their support for the writers’ strike, which began May 1 after contract negotiations between the Writers Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers fell through.

“Thank God for these labor unions and their ability to force these gigantic corporations who banded together to drive down the wages of workers to actually do something every once in a while and act fairly and equitably,” he said.

Byrne added, “It’s long overdue to reevaluate and restructure these contracts that we’re under. … It starts with and ends with the writers. Without the writing, there’s no directing, there’s no acting, there’s no catering, there’s no transpo, there’s no electric.”

The writers strike has been felt across the industry, pausing production on everything from game shows like Jeopardy to hit dramas like Stranger Things.

Platonic marks the first time Byrne and Rogen have reunited since starring together in Neighbors and Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising. The series premieres on Apple TV+ May 24.
