Sunny Hostin was fuming on this morning’s episode of The View, where she tore into her friend and former co-worker Anderson Cooper for his justification of CNN’s Donald Trump town hall on Wednesday (May 10). Hostin could not hide her rage on the Friday show after her co-hosts sided with the network.

“I disagree with all of you right now,” Hostin said tightly. “I think that you don’t give a bigot and a racist and a liar and a cheater and a sexual abuser and a defamer a platform of three million people.”

Hostin wasn’t the only one to blast CNN’s town hall; the network came under fire for hosting the former president, with those inside CNN even taking issue with the event, which was moderated by Kaitlan Collins. Cooper, a longtime CNN anchor, addressed the backlash last night, telling viewers, “You have every right to be outraged today, angry and never watch this network again, but do you think staying in your silo and only listening to people you agree with is going to make that person go away?”

Hostin was horrified by Cooper’s words, telling The View she felt “saddened that he tried to gaslight me.”

Directly responding to Cooper’s comments, Hostin said, “People aren’t living in a silo. They are choosing to listen to the lies or not … we did not need to see what we saw. I think that that town hall will be studied in journalism schools around the country as to what not to do. It was not fact-checked appropriately—”

Hostin’s co-hosts them chimed in to defend Collins, saying she “tried” to fact-check Trump, but Hostin shot back, “‘Tried’ is not good enough in that type of situation,” then snapped, “Can I just not be interrupted for a second?”

After the table fell silent, Hostin added, “It’s time for some real introspection at CNN,” before scolding the network for their “business decision” to host Trump on Wednesday.

“Congratulations, CNN,” she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm, “for making a little bit of money on the backs of our democracy.”

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
