On HBO Max, Love and Death tells the hauntingly true story of Candy Montgomery and Betty Gore.

Starring Elizabeth Olsen and Lily Rabe, Love and Death follows two Texas housewives who strike up a friendship together after meeting at church. But things go terribly wrong after Montgomery (Olsen) begins having an affair with Gore’s husband.

In the real-life case, everything continued as normal until one fateful day when Gore’s husband, Allan, realized he hadn’t been able to reach his wife while he was away on a business trip. Neighbors later discovered Betty in her home, where it was found she had been struck by an axe 41 times.

Candy was soon put on trial for the murder since she was one of the last people to see her that day. But, to the shock of many, she was ultimately acquitted.

Knowing all of the details to this case doesn’t make the show any less harrowing. But since it follows a true crime case, will there be a Love and Death Season 2?

Will there be a Love and Death Season 2 on HBO Max?

No announcement has been made yet regarding whether or not there will be a Love and Death Season 2 on HBO Max.

The show is a limited series with seven episodes, which are still airing on HBO Max every Thursday. These next few episodes will dive into the trial, showing Candy’s chilling testimony and the controversial decision they reached.

A season of television is certainly enough to cover the entire case. And since HBO Max has made no mention of a Love and Death Season 2 just yet, it does not look like a second season is in the cards just yet.

However, if you do want to see more of the case, it did get another television adaptation over on Hulu, titled Candy, starring Melanie Lynskey and Jessica Biel.
