Sigourney Weaver is finally revealing what we’ve all been wondering for months: what, exactly, did she say to Hugh Grant at the 2023 Oscars?

Weaver stopped by The View today, where she answered Sara Haines‘ question about what she said to Grant after his infamous scrotum joke at the awards ceremony in March.

At the time, Grant was presenting the award for Best Production Design beside Andie MacDowell when he cracked an NSFW line about the difference in their appearances.

“We’re actually here to do two things. The first is to raise awareness about the vital importance of using a good moisturizer,” Grant said onstage. “Andie has been wearing one every day for the last 29 years. I’ve never used one in my life.”

Referring to MacDowell, Grant said, “Still stunning,” before signaling toward himself and saying, “Basically a scrotum.”

When Grant stopped by The View shortly after the Oscars telecast, he admitted that he felt nervous about the risky line, but was immediately calmed by Weaver, who comforted him that night.

“I think I got away with it,” Grant told the co-hosts during a March 16 episode. “Sigourney Weaver said to me afterward, ‘You don’t look like a scrotum.’ She liked the joke. That relaxed me. But I was very nervous about it.”

In a full-circle moment on today’s show, Weaver told the Hot Topics panel what she told Grant that night.

“He looked a little unsure of how it went over, and I said, ‘Don’t worry. You were the best-looking scrotum out there,'” she shared.

The audience and the Hot Topics table delighted in her response, and when the laughter finally died down, Whoopi Goldberg chimed in to tell her guest, “Sometimes it’s just that word of wisdom that you need.”

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
