Apple TV+‘s sci-fi dramedy The Big Door Prize wrapped Season 1 with several cliffhangers in its May 17 finale that are sure to leave fans craving more.

Adapted from M.O. Walsh’s 2020 novel of the same name and created by Schitt’s Creek writer/EP David West Read, the series follows residents of Deerfield after a mysterious “MORPHO” machine appears in a local general store. As the machine spits out cards containing recipients’ life potentials, people question everything they thought they knew and start upending the lives in pursuit of their true purpose.

If you’ve seen The Big Door Prize Episode 10, “Deerfest: Part 2,” then you know a number of lingering questions about the machine, the MORPHO cards, Mr. Johnson (Patrick Kerr), Hana (Ally Maki), and those terrifying blue dots remain. So will The Big Door Prize get a chance to answer them? Here’s everything we know about a Big Door Prize Season 2.

Was The Big Door Prize Renewed or Canceled? The Big Door Prize Season 2 Renewal Status:

Fear not, fans of The Big Door Prize. The series will return for Season 2 to hopefully answer all of our burning questions. In a surprising twist, Apple TV+ renewed The Big Door Prize for Season 2 on April 5, 2023, after just four our of ten episodes premiered. Not only did Apple announce the series was renewed early, but they shared that Season 2 of the series was already in production.

“We are so grateful to the audiences around the world who have already embraced the weird little hopes and dreams of our Deerfield residents, and we could not be more excited about where we plan to take them in season two,” creator David West Read said in a statement. “Thanks to our partners at Apple TV+ and Skydance, we have an incredible opportunity to keep building the magic and mysteries of The Big Door Prize with this truly remarkable ensemble cast.”

With production on dozens of television shows — including Apple TV+’s Loot, Sinking Spring, and Severanceimpacted or completely halted by the WGA strike, there’s a chance that The Big Door Prize Season 2 may get delayed. There aren’t any updates at the moment, but we’ll be sure to add any information related to the sci-fi series’ second season here. Until then, here’s what fans can expect from The Big Door Prize Season 2.

The Big Door Prize Ending Explained: What Will The Big Door Prize Season 2 Look Like?

If you’ve read The Big Door Prize novel, you likely have a solid idea of where the series is headed in its second season. But those who haven’t checked out the book yet can still infer several storylines based on Season 1’s exciting finale. (Warning: Finale spoilers ahead!)

“Deerfest: Part Two” saw Mr. Johnson developing a cluster of MORPHO-blue dots on his neck and getting rushed to the hospital after trying to break into the machine, so we’ll likely check back in with him and see the impact of his near-death experience. Dusty and Cass discussed potentially parting ways for a bit in pursuit of their own potentials, so we’ll see if they take a page from Puffins and try eight months apart.

Aside from our main couple, Season 2 will presumably focus on relationships between Cass and her mom, Giorgio and Nat, Trina and Jacob, and Father Rueben and Hana. Speaking of Hana, here’s hoping we find out what her whole deal is! We learned she’s been in a MORPHO town before, and the final scene of Season 1 shows a now-winged MORPHO machine glowing with a new display screen that reads: “Are you ready for the next stage?” Dusty’s theremin plays the MORPHO’s theme music nearby, and Hana shows up — her back full of glowing MORPHO dots — to say “It’s never done that before.” AHHH!!!!!!

What’s the next stage? Where did this machine come from? And what the heck are those blue dots? Season 2 can’t come fast enough.
