‘Love & Marriage’ Is Moving to Detroit, New Spinoff Will Premiere in June on OWN

OWN’s hit reality series Love & Marriage has filmed in Washington D.C. and Huntsville, Alabama, and news out of the Warner Bros. Discovery 2023 Upfronts this week is that a new season based out of Detroit will be arriving to the Oprah Winfrey Network next month.

Series creator Carlos King is a Detroit native himself, and the new show will focus on lives and marriages of three couples, per Deadline.

The first is Russell and Kolby Harris, a married couple with a small daughter. Russell attends divinity school, while Kolby is an influencer trying to make a career of it. She is friends with another influencer who appears on the show, Kristina Bowman Smith.

On the show, Kristina and her husband Brandon find their marriage tested by Brandon’s decision to start working with you women who aspire to be in the music industry.

Rounding out the cast are Anthony and Dr. LaToya Thompson, a couple who have been together 14 years but face their own problems thanks in part to LaToya’s success as the breadwinner and Anthony’s position as the leader in a local men’s movement.

The show’s logline explains, “Detroit is on the rise and so are the people. It’s a city where Black culture is strong. This reemerging city is all about family, friendship, business, excellence and of course, love and marriage. Love  & Marriage: Detroit will center on a group of African American families with deep ties to Detroit who have decided to stay in the city and prove they can provide the best lives possible for their families in this community on a comeback.”

The new series is set to premiere on June 24 at 9 PM ET/PT on OWN.
