Greetings, teen rom-com lovers!

If you found your way to this article it’s either because you devoured all ten episodes of Jenny Han’s To All The Boys spinoff XO, Kitty and are eager to break down all the biggest finale moments, or you’re in the middle of the series and can’t wait another second to learn what’s in store for Kitty (Anna Cathcart), Dae (Choi Min-yeong), Q (Anthony Keyvan), Yuri (Gia Kim), Madison ( Jocelyn Shelfo), Min Ho (Sang Heon Lee), and the rest of the KISS crew. Either way, welcome. And consider this your warning that finale spoilers lie ahead.

XO, Kitty Season 1’s finale picks up right where the eventful penultimate episode left off. After an almost-kiss with Yuri, Kitty’s talent show performance crashed and burned (almost literally), and she finally told Dae she had feelings for someone else. In Episode 9, Alex also tells Jina he’s her son and Jina and Yuri finally open up to each other. Another bomb is dropped when Q finds out that Florian cheated on his finals so his parents would let him stay enrolled at KISS. Yikes!

Wondering what goes down in XO, Kitty‘s Season 1 finale? Curious how or if all the drama is resolved? Or want to know who Kitty ends up with? Decider’s XO, Kitty ending explained has the answers.

XO, Kitty Ending Explained: Season 1 Finale Recap

In XO, Kitty‘s Season 1 finale, Dae and Min Ho are each still pining for Kitty, but Kitty finally sets the record straight about her feelings. Dae assumes Kitty has a crush on Min Ho because he saw the way Min Ho looked at her when he rescued her onstage, but Kitty tells him she’s had feelings for Yuri ever since the night of Min Ho’s party. “I like boys too!” Kitty says, assuring him that what they had was real. “It’s a lot to understand, I know. I barely understand it myself.” Unable to process his heartbreak in the moment, Dae replies, “I can’t do this now. I can’t do this ever!”

When Kitty returns to her room she FaceTimes her dad even though it’s the middle of the night in America. “I have feelings for my friend Yuri, who’s a girl,” she admits, explaining she’s not sure if she’s bisexual, pansexual, or fluid. Her dad tells her it’s OK to be confused and still figuring things out. He’s just glad she’s safe and healthy because the after-hours FaceTime call gave him a serious scare.

Meanwhile, Jina finally tells Lee that Alex is his son. And though there’s still a lot of trust to be built and questions to be answered, the three of them (and Yuri) start connecting their long-lost family. As everyone at KISS preps to head home for winter break, Kitty texts Yuri hoping to talk, but her messages go unanswered.

When finals grades are posted, Q sees that Florian snagged the top spot, which is bittersweet because he wants Florian to stay, but because Dae lost his spot as first in class he lost his room and scholarship. All that studying paid off for Kitty, who manages to pass her finals. But before she can celebrate her win, Jina tells her she’s not being asked back to KISS because she broke the rules by living in the boys’ dorm. Though Jina had to be the bearer of bad news, she finally opens up to Kitty about her and her mom’s friendship. She admits that Lee was her first love and leaves Kitty with a letter her mom sent after she returned home from KISS. (Jina still carries guilt over never responding to the letter, which is why she’s been so awkward around Kitty all season.)

Who Does Kitty End Up With In XO, Kitty’s Season 1 Finale?

Though Kitty isn’t ready to leave KISS for good, she packs her bags, leaves Dae her mom’s necklace, and heads to the airport. Realizing he missed her, Dae calls his dad to drive him to the airport and he chases after Kitty so the two can share a proper goodbye. “Whatever happens in the future, you will always be the first girl I loved,” he says. “And the first boy I loved,” she replies before kissing him. Min Ho left school early and barely said goodbye to Kitty, so it seems the two may never see each other again. But before Kitty makes her way through security, she runs into — wait for it — Yuri! Kitty starts telling Yuri she has feelings for her, saying, “Before I came to KISS I thought I knew everything there was to know about love.” Yuri’s girlfriend Juliana interrupts them, causing an embarrassed Kitty to slip away unseen. Before Kitty boards the plane, however, Yuri calls her mom and asks her not to expel Kitty from KISS. Will Jina listen to her daughter? Only time will tell.

Before the end credits roll, Kitty (and viewers!) get two more surprises. The first comes from Kitty’s mom’s letter when it is revealed that she may have had another first love (named Simon) that wasn’t Kitty’s dad. The second surprise? Min Ho is Kitty’s seatmate on the plane! He’s going to see his mom in LA, but he also has to tell Kitty something important: “I think I fell in love with you a little bit…or a lot.” SWOON!

Kitty may have technically ended up alone at the end of Season 1, but if the show returns for Season 2 it’s clear she has a ton of romantic potential with Min Ho, Yuri, and Dae left to explore. Plus, she has more mom-related investigating to do!

XO, Kitty Season 1 is now streaming on Netflix.
