Joy Behar Scoffs at Jeff Bezos’ 20-Karat Engagement Ring For Lauren Sanchez on ‘The View’: “How Tacky”

The View has weighed in with their thoughts on multi-billionaire Jeff Bezos‘ reported engagement to Lauren Sanchez, whom he has been dating for five years.

Whoopi Goldberg introduced the Hot Topics segment during this morning’s episode of the daytime talk show, expressing confusion over why the Amazon founder is getting backlash over his impending nuptials.

“People seem to be very upset about it — all up in their business — just really mad about it,” she said.

Sunny Hostin — who was “not upset” nor does she know why people are — took note of the massive ring Sanchez was gifted by her fiancé.

“They can’t get mad at the 20-karat diamond ring he gave her,” Hostin pointed out as she sipped from her mug, while Joy Behar added, “Oh, how tacky!”

Referring to a photo of the couple on a boat where Sanchez is clearly sporting her new rock, Alyssa Farah Griffin joked, “She better not fall overboard. She will sink off that super yacht.”

When Hostin brought up the fact that only 60% of second marriages fail, Behar — who, like Bezos and Sanchez, is also twice-married — said, “I think that the second marriage, you know where the escape patch is. You’ve already been there. So you know how to get out of it.”

Meanwhile, Hostin gave her own dating advice for those looking for something long-lasting.

“I do think you have to show the crazy early,” she said. “I showed Manny my crazy very early and I was surprised. There was no rejection there.”

In response, Griffin went on to say that she believes the couple’s relationship “might work” and was “glad” that Bezos, 59, is seeing someone “age appropriate.”

“She’s a journalist. She’s smart. She’s got herself her 20-karat ring,” Hostin reiterated, before Behar chimed in, “And a multi-billionaire. Unbelievable.”

The conversation then shifted as the panel brought up Bezos’ plans to send Sanchez to space — something Behar called a “red flag.”
