Selling Sunset is back on Netflix with Season 6 — but it lost a few realtors since the last time the show dropped new episodes. We all know that Christine Quinn left the show, and the rest of the cast actually talk about her departure a few times in Season 6. Another original cast member, Maya Vander, left the show to focus on her family. She actually makes an appearance during Season 6 via FaceTime at Heather’s baby shower. And Vanessa Villela left the show after two seasons to pursue an international romance. That leaves just one of the missing cast members unaccounted for: Davina Potratz. What happened to Davina on Selling Sunset?

What happened to Davina on Selling Sunset? Why is Davina not on Selling Sunset Season 6?

Actually, to say that Davina is not on Selling Sunset Season 6 would be a lie. Davina is actually in Season 6 at the very beginning and at the very end. She doesn’t do much at all, and most of her screentime is her kinda blurry in the background, like she’s an alien in a Star Wars cantina who’s not the focus of the scene but you can’t help but notice.

Instead of causing a commotion with her ambition and blunt demeanor, Davina offers a couple of comments in group conversations and then disappears halfway through Season 6, Episode 3. Her disappearance isn’t a mystery, though. Davina’s colleagues say exactly where she is when she misses Chelsea’s first-ever open house for Oppenheim.

Yep, Davina is absent for almost all of Season 6, including all of that wild Palm Springs drama, because she’s at the weeklong desert arts festival known as Burning Man.

Burning Man started in 1986 and has been held in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert since 1991. It’s important to note that this is not a music festival, not in the traditional sense. Burning Man is a weeklong art experience focused on community, artwork, absurdity, de-commodification, and revelry and the focus of the event is left up to the participants. So basically you can show up to Burning Man and just do your thing.

Here is Davina, doing her thing at the 2022 festival, possibly while her co-workers were playing around in Elvis’ oven hood.

For the record, Burning Man took place from August 28 to September 5 in 2022, which gives you an indication of when Selling Sunset Season 6 was filmed. Of course, it’s wild to think that they filmed 11 episodes in just 7 days. It’s possible that, knowing that Davina would be away for a week of filming, the producers didn’t establish any storylines involving her for whatever filming took place before and after Burning Man. That’s just my theory, though.

The show does use Davina’s return from Burning Man at the very beginning of Episode 10 as a nice punchline after a few episodes of intense in-fighting with potential legal ramifications:

Davina, you missed a lot. Fortunately, you can catch up by streaming Selling Sunset Season 6 on Netflix.

You may be asking yourself, “Why would Davina miss filming a season of television for a weeklong excuse to party and commune with artistic souls as they glide through a utopia of hedonistic expression or whatever?” Well, it’s important to note that Burning Man is apparently very important to Davina, and this is not the first time that she’s missed Selling Sunset obligations to attend the festival. Way back in Season 1, Episode 7, Davina missed a charity event organized by Chrishell involving helping out the homeless because it took place during 2018’s Burning Man.

Chrishell is low-key offended by this, ignoring the part where Davina says that she had planned this expensive, weeklong, out-of-state experience for months — possibly before Chrishell even started at Oppenheim. 2018 Chrishell needs to chill out. This was the altercation where Chrishell asked Davina how much her tickets cost (“$ 495”) as a way to poke at her privilege. Davina immediately clapped back at Chrishell, asking, “How much was your dress?” I mean, #TeamSeason1Davina.

Now, whether or not Davina will be around more in Season 7 remains to be seen. She should be, in theory, with Burning Man in the rearview window. But you really never know with this show, and who knows what else Davina has on her to-do list.
