Al Roker shared another update on his recovery since having a “complicated” knee replacement surgery in early May.

The meteorologist called into The Today Show on Tuesday (May 23) to tell his colleagues when they should be expecting him back at 30 Rock.

“I’ve had a number of replacements…this one has been the toughest one yet,” Roker said on a video call during Tuesday’s broadcast. He even held up his phone to show a photo of his “new knee.”

He shared that “the toughest part” of his recovery process has been to “actually stay off the knee.”

After sharing a couple of laughs with his colleagues, Roker bid them farewell and promised to see them soon.

“Good to see you guys, miss you,” Roker said. “I’ll see you next Tuesday!”

Roker has been absent from the show since May 9 after he announced that he will be taking some time off to recuperate from his necessary knee surgery.

During a call into the show last week, Roker shared an update on how the surgery went.

“It’s stiff,” he said of his leg. “This one is a little more complicated because it was what they call a revision. It’s was a replacement of a replacement, so they had to take stuff out, put new stuff in, so it was a bit of a bear.”

He said that he was “not going to rush back” until he fully recovered, but he expected to be back on the show within two weeks.

Since he’s making good on that promise, it seems like his time resting up, watching Poker Face, and going to physical therapy have paid off.

The Today Show airs on weekdays at 7 a.m. ET on NBC.
