If you missed out on Marry or Move On last year, the premise is — well, I can’t exactly call it “simple.” On The Ultimatum, a half dozen couples all have the same problem: one is ready to get married and the other is dragging their feet. So as part of this experiment, all the couples are split up and told to date each other. From there, everyone gets mixed up and new couples are formed, and those new couples then enter into a 3-week “trial marriage” wherein they live together and get a taste of what it’s like to be totally committed to someone. Then after the trial is up, everyone returns to their original partners and endures another 3-week pretend marriage. And at the end of it all, everyone is faced with a choice: do they want to couple up with the new person they met or do they want to marry the person they came with? Or… do they just want to break up with everyone and leave the process alone?

The Ultimatum is a lot, and now it will feature five queer couples trying to take their old love to a new level or find new love.
