We watch Netflix reality dating shows like The Ultimatum: Queer Love for lots of reasons. There’s the drama, the romance, the personalities — and there’s also the sightseeing. Seriously! How many of us can get away to a resort and spend our day just hanging out at the pool, talking about truly inconsequential stuff like whether or not someone’s eyes look like melted chocolate? We live vicariously through these people, at least when it comes to their travel and lodging.

So, where was The Ultimatum: Queer Love filmed and how can you book a similar stay? And while we’re at it, when was this show filmed? How long have these people had to keep their relationships hidden on social media? Here’s everything we know.

When was The Ultimatum: Queer Love filmed?

This series is a real blast from the past because it was filmed between September and November 2021. In fact, the Queer Love season — which was initially Season 2 of The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On before it was determined that this would be an entirely new series — was reportedly already in post-production when the first season premiered back in April 2022.

As for a reunion, cast members have said that the Queer Love crew reconvened to film a reunion special in January 2023. Netflix has yet to announce a reunion officially, so take that with a grain of salt.

If you’re looking to have a resort getaway similar to the ones that the couples had at the start of the season, albeit one without all of the dating drama (I assume — you do you), you can book a stay at the Coronado Island Marriott Resort and Spa. Rooms cost around $350-400 a night, which is actually reasonable compared to the nightly rates of most of the hotels featured on Netflix reality shows.

The rest of the season was filmed 12 minutes away from Coronado in sunny San Diego, California — with a major caveat. Unlike the Love Is Blind franchise which travels to a city and then casts exclusively from that city and the cities surrounding it, the Queer Love cast came from all over the country. Xander and Vanessa traveled from Hawaii, and Mal and Yoly hail from Chicago. Going off of their Instagram profiles, at least Lexi, Mildred and Tiff are actually from Southern California — and Tiff seems to live in San Diego.

Having couples come in from different cities, including a state as far away as Hawaii, no doubt added a lot of pressure to these new couples. Whether or not that pressure will make it into the show remains TBD. After all, these new couples have a lot of pressure on them already without taking into account potentially having to change their zip codes.

New episodes of The Ultimatum: Queer Love premiere on Netflix on Wednesdays at 3 a.m. ET.
