After Al Pacino one-upped Robert De Niro with his own baby news, the octogenarian earned himself a segment on The View. Pacino, who is expecting a child at 83 with his 29-year-old girlfriend Noor Alfallah, was the Hot Topic of the day as the co-hosts shared their thoughts on his unconventional relationship.

Joy Behar kicked off the debate by helpfully reminding us that “life is finite” and “no one has come back so far,” before pointing out that older men like Pacino and De Niro want to “feel younger” by dating women decades younger than them.

And if you ask her, it’s not really a big deal, anyway. Behar said she thinks as “titans of the industry,” the two men should be allowed to “enjoy themselves.”

Sunny Hostin agreed, adding, “If you’re 83 and you’re having a kid, I’m cool with it,” before noting famous actors like De Niro and Pacino “have the means” to care and raise for another child at their ages. Still, she said, the child will inevitably experience “grief” in the case of their older parent dying “sooner rather than later,” and they won’t have grandparents” to step in.

Behar had a cheeky solution to that issue, quipping, “Al Pacino can be his father and his grandfather!”

She then took on a more serious tone, wondering, “The question is, why do these men have to have these young women? Why don’t they go out with post-menopausal women? And then they won’t have pregnancy as an issue. But no, they’re not interested in women who are their age or close.”

The comment prompted Hostin to suggest they “must want to have children” or they would have used birth control,” while Sara Haines asked, “Why do our eggs expire but their sperm doesn’t? They could have had sex six months ago and they just got pregnant.”

Hostin, taking a sip from her mug, replied, “‘Cause our eggs turn to dust.”

Behar chimed in, “Mine are powdered already, I know. They have been for quite a while.”

And with that, she ended the segment to save Whoopi Goldberg, who “desperately” wanted out.

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
