Elliot Page‘s new memoir, Pageboy: A Memoir, reveals a disturbing run-in he had with a “famous asshole” at a party in 2014.

Page, who came out as a trans man in 2020, identified as a lesbian at the time. The excerpt, shared via People magazine, said the unnamed A-list actor questioned Page’s sexuality while at a birthday party in Los Angeles.

“You aren’t gay. That doesn’t exist. You are just afraid of men,” he allegedly told Page. “I’m going to fuck you to make you realize you aren’t gay.”

They later ran into each other at a gym a few days later, during which the actor told Page, “I don’t have a problem with gay people I swear.”

Page goes on to write that “some version of that” has happened many times to them throughout their life.

“A lot of queer and trans people deal with it incessantly. These moments that we often like don’t talk about or we’re supposed to just brush off, when actually it’s very awful,” he told People. “I put that story in the book because it’s about highlighting the reality, the s–t we deal with and what gets sent to us constantly, particularly in environments that are predominantly cis and heterosexual.”

Though he purposely did not name the actor, Page says, “He will hear about this and know it’s him.”

This is the first book the Umbrella Academy actor has written. The memoir is an honest look at the Oscar-nominated actor’s journey to coming to terms with their gender and sexuality while navigating their blossoming career in the spotlight.

Another major reveal Page shares in the book is that he claims have been in a romantic relationship with actress Kate Mara while she was still dating Max Minghella, who Page says was supportive of their feelings for one another.

“This was right after I’d come out as gay and it was a time of exploration and also heartbreak,” Page said. “I think my relationship, or whatever you want to call it with Kate, very much encapsulates a certain dynamic that I consistently found myself in, which was falling for people that — I think a lot of us do this — who aren’t fully available.”
