Fatal Attraction, Paramount+’s new series inspired by the 1987 thriller starring Michael Douglas, Anne Archer, and Glenn Close, concluded its first season on Sunday, May 28 with a gripping finale that will leave fans craving more episodes.

Created by Alexandra Cunningham, the series follows Daniel (Joshua Jackson) and Beth Gallagher (Amanda Peet), a husband and wife whose lives are upended after Dan has an affair with his colleague Alexandra Forrest (Lizzy Caplan), who becomes obsessed with him, then mysteriously winds up dead. When Dan is finally released from prison after serving 15 years for her murder, he sets out to prove his innocence and reconnect with his daughter Ellen (Alyssa Jirrels).

If you’ve seen Fatal Attraction‘s Season 1 finale, you know the eight episodes end with some major cliffhangers, burning questions, and loose ends that will hopefully be tied up in a potential Season 2.

Will There Be A Fatal Attraction Season 2 On Paramount+?

As of Monday, June 5, Fatal Attraction has yet to be renewed for a Season 2, but it hasn’t been canceled either. It’s not uncommon for streamers to renew shows after their season finale airs, and it’s clear that this particular series set itself up for an additional season, so we haven’t lost hope yet. Decider reached out to show reps for comment and will update this article with any additional information. Until we hear back, let’s take a look at some potential Season 2 storylines, shall we?

What Could Fatal Attraction Season 2 Look Like?

As noted in our Fatal Attraction Season 1 Ending Explained article, the major finale reveals included the fact that Dan’s friend and Beth’s present-day partner, Arthur (Brian Goodman) is the one who killed Alex. Flashbacks not only showed Arthur killing Alex and dumping her body, but they also revealed that Arthur later sought out a legal expert, confessed to killing her under attorney-client confidentiality, and expressed a desire to turn himself in so Dan could walk free. The lawyer told Arthur that Dan was a big get for the DA’s office and that confessing would get him locked up, but likely wouldn’t change anything for Dan. So Arthur stayed silent for Dan’s entire sentence. Now that Dan’s back, that guilt must be haunting Arthur, so perhaps we’ll see him come clean in the future.

FATAL ATTRACTION EPISODE 8 ZOOM IN

Unaware that Arthur did the crime, Dan, Mike (Toby Huss), and even Earl (Reno Wilson) set out to investigate and solve the murder themselves towards the end of Season 1, so we’d likely see more of their search in the future, and potentially another trial if Dan successfully appeals the judge’s decision.

Finally, the episode ends with Ellen sitting on a couch editing audio clips of her professor speaking to make him say, “Ellen, I’ve been afraid to be this direct with any other person. No matter what my colleagues think, I need you. I didn’t think it was possible to even dream of a woman like you, so completely generous and loving. I want you in my life for the next morning and every one after. We could be together forever.”

As she sits smiling and listening to the inappropriate edit, a frightened Professor Macksey appears and asks how and why she’s inside his house. She tells him she found his hidden key, walks over and says, “I feel like you’re mad at me. Are you mad at me?” and BOOM the episode ends, so Season 2 would hopefully show us where Ellen’s unexpected, but familiar, storyline is headed.
