Mark Consuelos is a man who is in excellent shape — judging, at least, from his biceps — but the 52-year-old talk show host was no match for college wrestling champion Mason Parris, who demonstrated his skills on Consuelos this morning on Live with Kelly and Mark.

Consuelos and wife Kelly Ripa interviewed University of Michigan student Parris, who is the current recipient of the Dan Hodge Trophy, which is awarded to the NCAA’s top wrestler. The interview concluded with a demonstration where Parris and Consuelos wrestled together in front of the audience, each dressed in a form-fitting wresting singlet.

“Mark, it’s been fun being married to you,” Ripa joked before the two men started to tussle.

Consuelos was game for it and appeared all smiles throughout, but it was clear from the first move, called a double leg takedown, that Consuelos was no match for the 275 lb. Parris, who easily lifted Consuelos over his shoulder.

Parris continued to dominate as he displayed his moves, assuring Kelly that her husband was “trying his best,” before flipping Consuelos’ body over onto the floor a number of times. Consuelos seemed shocked, as was the audience, many of whom gasped when his back hit the floor the first time.

He quickly declared, “I’m okay!” and let the pummeling continue. (At one point later he weakly asked, “Are we still on the air?”)

When the segment ended, Consuelos seemed like, you know, a 52-year-old man whose body had been throttled by a man twice his size and half his age, as he hunched over to recover. Someone get this man an ice pack … or 30. You can watch the two men spar in the full clip above.

Live with Kelly and Mark airs on weekdays at 9/8c on ABC.
