Vivica A. Fox Responds to 50 Cent Diss: “I Took It as a Compliment”

Vivica A. Fox just directly addressed 50 Cent after he dissed her upcoming BET+ movie, First Lady Of BMF: The Tonesa Welch Story.

Fox, who appeared on today’s episode of Sherri, brushed off 50 Cent’s words, telling host Sherri Shepherd, “I took it as a compliment. That was his way of showing support. Thanks, boo.”

Back in March, 50 Cent (whose real name is Curtis Jackson) made a post on Instagram highlighting what he thought were some inaccuracies in Fox’s upcoming biopic of Detroit native Tonesa Welch.

“This should say 263 not BMF,” he wrote, per TMZ, suggesting that Welch was involved with the Detroit 263 Crew and not the BMF enterprise. “What the f— is this man? Vivica ugh, So your not gonna ever leave me alone hun?”

He also dissed Judge Joe Mathis for being an executive producer on the film: “And what the f— is Mathis doing in this mix,” he added. “I’m done.”

Fox shared a screenshot of Jackson’s post to her own social media in March, writing, “TGIF dawlings! Waking up to my ex @50Cent showing #1STLADYOFBMF support! Don’t worry dawling we got this! We gonna tell @firstladytonesa REAL story! Thanks!”

Jackson is an executive producer on the Starz series BMF, another project about Welch. Fox’s biopic, which marks her directorial debut, will chronicle Welch’s rise to the top of the Black Mafia Family; federal prosecutors deemed her “The First Lady Of BMF.”

Despite Jackson’s statement, it looks like there really is no bad blood between him and Fox, who dated briefly in 2003 before breaking up after just a few months. Fox has since maintained in interviews that Jackson was the love of her life.

Shepherd, of course, couldn’t resists bringing up romantic past, asking, “Curtis looked like he was in love with you, would you ever think about getting back together with Mr. Curtis Jackson if he came?”

“Well, Ben [Affleck] and Jen [Lopez] did it again. Why not?” Fox responded to cheers from the audience.

First Lady Of BMF: The Tonesa Welch Story is slated to release on BET+ in October. Sherri airs on weekdays at 10 a.m. ET. Check the Sherri website for local listings.
