Barbie cast members Margot Robbie, Issa Rae, America Ferrera and Kate McKinnon are all gearing up to star in one of the biggest movies of the year, and the stars dished to Kelly Clarkson about what it was like to star in the highly anticipated blockbuster.
But most importantly, they finally revealed what went down at the mysterious cast slumber party they held during production.
“Nobody told me that it was a sexy Barbie sleepover,” Ferrera said during the cast’s Monday (June 12) appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show. “So everybody was in like, really pretty silky nightgowns and I was in the most grandma floral twin set you could imagine.”
Robbie called the embarrassing moment “so charming,” saying Ferrera “somehow simultaneously looked like an old lady but a 5-year-old at the same time.”
“It was the cutest,” she said. “And she’s so teeny, while she’s screaming at you.”

Barbie director Greta Gerwig and Robbie hosted a sleepover in London for all of the actors playing Barbies in the movie and invited the Kens to stop by. According to Robbie, it really was “as fun as it sounds.”
She said, “It was Greta’s idea, I can’t take credit. We all shared beds and wore our pajamas and ordered room service and played games, and found out that [Ferrera] is like, exceptionally competitive.”
Ryan Gosling, who stars opposite Robbie as Ken in the movie, reportedly couldn’t make it to the slumber party. But Gerwig recently revealed that he instead sent a Scottish man in his place to play the bagpipes as a surprise.
“This man, this Scottish man in a full kilt, showed up and played the bagpipes,” Gerwig told GQ. “Then he read a speech from Braveheart. And then he left.”
When asked why he chose to have the man recite a monologue from Braveheart, Gosling replied, “Well, sometimes, you just need to hear it.”
