‘General Hospital’ Preempted For Breaking News About Trump’s Court Appearance Leaving Fans Outraged: “Tired of the Wrinkled Cheeto Interrupting My Shows”

It looks like General Hospital fans are just going to have to wait to see what happens next on the hit soap opera after today’s episode was preempted due to an ABC News Special Report.

The show — which typically airs on weekdays at 3 p.m. ET on ABC — was interrupted by the network’s coverage of former President Donald Trump‘s appearance in a Miami federal courtroom, where he pleaded not guilty to all charges filed against him surrounding his handling of classified documents.

Instead, the General Hospital episode that was set to air today will air on Wednesday (June 14) during its regular time slot, before coming to Hulu and ABC.com the following day.

Meanwhile, fans of the show — which just celebrated its 60th anniversary, making it the longest-running daytime drama on network TV — took to social media to air their grievances over the unexpected interference.

“Every network has like 12 channels why they gotta interrupt #GH can’t they just air it on one of their other 12 options,” one fan suggested, while another added, “I’mma start watching this show on Hulu exclusively. My DVR can’t keep up with all these pre-emptions.”

A third person fumed, “The news coverage can be shown at 5 or 6 when the news is USUALLY shown. This is getting old. No, it does NOT need to be put on Disney plus. ABC news needs to leave the afternoons alone and put NEWS SHIT ON THE NEWS.”

“Honestly they need to put general hospital episodes on Disney plus or something,” a fifth fan countered. “I know a lot of people can’t afford streaming services but it’d benefit from us having our story time being interrupted by some orange man.”

Someone else quipped, “I’m tired of the wrinkled cheeto interrupting my shows,” before another wrote, “@GeneralHospital needs to go to streaming all these interruptions for nonsense is ridiculous.” 

General Hospital airs on weekdays at 3 p.m. ET on ABC. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Hulu.
