In case you didn’t know, beloved Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak knows how to party — at least, that’s what Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos remember from the time they took him out on the town.

During this morning’s episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, the married couple and co-hosting duo congratulated Sajak for his “well-deserved” plan to retire from Wheel in 2024.

“Big news. Big news. Pat Sajak set to retire from Wheel of Fortune after next season,” Consuelos read. “Say it ain’t so, Pat! More than 40 years hosting the iconic game show.”

He continued, “I love Pat. He’s been a co-host with you. Such a good guy,” referring to Sajak’s stints filling in for the late Regis Philbin back when the show was titled Live with Regis and Kelly.

According to Ripa, they’ve even all “hung out together” in social settings, with Consuelos bringing up the time they brought Sajak to a “trendy party” in Soho.

“He came over for dinner. I’m like, ‘Listen, after dinner we have to go to this crazy party. Do you want to come?’” Consuelos gleefully explained. “It was like in subterranean or something like that. We brought Pat Sajak to the party.”

He added, “He parties! He gets down!” before Ripa recalled, “People were like, ‘OK, you guys win with the coolest [guest].’”

Sajak, who has hosted Wheel of Fortune since 1983, announced the news of his retirement after decades of hosting in a tweet posted on Monday (June 12) night.

“Well, the time has come. I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last,” he wrote. “It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all. (If nothing else, it’ll keep the clickbait sites busy!)”

Live with Kelly and Mark airs on weekdays at 9/8c on ABC. Plus, you can catch Sajak hosting Wheel of Fortune on weeknights at 7:30/6:30c —  you can find local listings on the Wheel of Fortune website.
