Anthony Anderson Shoots Down His “Excited” Mom’s Dreams of Hosting ‘The View’: “They Already Filled It Up!”

Move over Alyssa Farah Griffin, Anthony Anderson‘s mom is coming for your spot on The View! While appearing on this morning’s episode of the hit daytime talk show, the actor jokingly reminded his mother, Doris Bowman, that all the seats at the Hot Topics table have been filled.

The hilarious exchange came after Anderson revealed that he stole his mother’s credit card as a teenager and bought a “baby grand piano” to help him practice for his piano lessons. When Sunny Hostin pointed out that he could’ve gone with a cheaper alternative — such as a keyboard — Bowman turned to the co-host and exclaimed, “Yeah!”

Meanwhile, her quick-witted son immediately called her out for the overzealous response.

“Mama! Sunny right next to you, why you yelling?” Anderson snapped, to which Bowman fired back, “I’m excited!”

Joy Behar then reminded the Black-ish star that his mom has a “wonderful career here going” — referring to their new E! show Trippin’ with Anthony Anderson and Mama Doris, which follows the mother-son duo as they embark on a six-week trip around Europe.

Despite Bowman receiving praise from the co-hosts, Anderson kept the bit going as he shut down any dreams his mother might have had about joining The View — which replaced former co-host Meghan McCain with both Griffin and Ana Navarro.

“You are not gonna be the next host on The View, mama. Relax!” he playfully called out. “They already filled it up!”

After two segments of entertaining banter between Anderson and Bowman, Behar concluded the interview by telling today’s guests that they are both a “big hit.”

“You are adorable,” she told Bowman. “She’s the money shot!”

You never know! Perhaps a spot on the talk show will open up for her someday — we would sure like to see it.
