If figuring out where to stream your favorite TV shows and movies wasn’t hard enough, Warner Bros. Discovery just might be throwing you another curveball.

According to Deadline, the media company may be shopping some HBO originals to one of its rivals, Netflix. Issa Rae‘s comedy series Insecure could be the first title to be licensed non-exclusively, the outlet reports.

This deal would mark the first time in close to a decade that HBO titles could be available to view on streaming platforms other than Max (the service previously known as HBO Max). The shows would be distributed on a “non-exclusive basis,” per Deadline, which means that they could still be streamed on Max.

Deadline also reports that David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, “signaled early in his tenure that he is open to forego exclusivity and license content to boost the bottom line.” This was made evident by HBO Originals such as Westworld landing on other streaming platforms such as Roku and Tubi earlier this year.

It is important to note that “insiders stress the deal is not closed and may still fall apart,” per Deadline.

This deal may resemble one that HBO made in 2014 with Prime Video, where HBO licensed series to the platform such as The Sopranos (which was previously sold to A&E for a a whopping $200 million), Deadwood and The Wire. However, the deal was made before Amazon began launching their own slate of original shows.

The deal may come as a shock to those who remember Zaslav’s slight at Netflix for how they organize their payment terms, not to mention the fact that it gives their biggest competitors free reign over some of their biggest hits.

However, more places to stream a show or movie only promotes its exposure, and allows viewers like us more opportunities to catch our all-time faves.
