It looks like Jackass Forever may have been a bit of a wake up call for the Jackass gang.

The fourth installment to the series was a box office hit when it released in 2022 and showed the original cast reuniting for another round of hijinks. But Steve-O, who has been a part of the franchise since it began when he was 25 years old, admitted that watching some of the stunts included in the recent movie was “kind of a bummer.”

“It’s not fun to watch Knoxville get hit in the head any more,” he told NME, referring to the cast lead Johnny Knoxville, who had performed a particularly dangerous stunt that included getting charged by a bull named Pecker Wrecker.

The stunt left the 50-year-old hospitalized with a concussion, brain hemorrhage, a broken rib, and a broken wrist. Knoxville later said they had tried the stunt multiple times with another bull first before they brought Pecker Wrecker in.

“I wrote this text to the whole cast that day, thanking Knoxville for the sacrifices he’s made for this team, and also begging that he stops with the brain trauma,” Steve-O recalled. “It was one of my more serious and sincere messages.”

Knoxville’s injuries forced him to stop filming, though they had a few more stunts planned for the movie. He has since admitted that he knew Jackass Forever would be his “last hurrah with big stunts.”

“You do silly things, you get silly injuries,” he told EW. “But I can no longer do stunts that risk my life or — well, actually I don’t care about my limbs, I can still do stunts that risk my limbs.”

Doctors have reportedly told him that he’s suffered so many injuries over the 20 years of doing Jackass, it’s like his body has “been in a major car crash.”

Steve-O, who has been sober for 15 years now, also took a moment to express his concern for his former cast mate Bam Margera, who did not return for Jackass Forever due to his longtime issues with addiction.

“I owe everything to my sobriety, and I really made an effort to encourage Bam to choose sobriety,” he said. “It’s a shame that you can’t make people want to get better.”

Though it’s unclear if Jackass fans should be expecting another movie any time soon, Steve-O can be seen on The Bucket List Tour, during which the stuntman will showcase his most shocking stunts yet in a stand-up comedy act.
