Date 1 Recap: Charity Lawson and Aaron Bryant’s One-On-One Date

Aaron Bryant, a 29-year-old software salesman from San Diego, California, literally dropped his jaw upon learning he was going on Charity’s first one-on-one date. He told cameras he had “butterflies” and was “feeling all the emotions” from the start because he sees the “passionate, empathetic, clear-headed woman” Charity is and can’t wait to learn more about her. And honestly? We ship them already.

Much to the dismay of the other guys in the house, Charity picked Aaron up in a bright red Mustang convertible, and after driving through Hollywood while bonding over old-school music and their military parents, the two arrived at the Hollywood sign where they popped champagne and toasted to the sign’s 100th anniversary. Aaron finally revealed that his trusty coin was double-sided, and Charity excitedly said that meant “the odds are always in our favor.”

After spending a romantic day together the two met up for dinner where Aaron opened up about his past, said he hasn’t always been the luckiest guy, and shared that he sought out therapy to better himself. Charity said there’s nothing more attractive than someone who’s going to put in the work, and the two spent the rest of the night smooching and dancing to live music from American Idol alum Lauren Alaina. As you likely guessed, Aaron B. got a rose and Charity said everything about the day was “PHENOMENAL!” High praise!

Did Aaron B Get The Date Rose? You bet!

Date 2 Recap: Suns Out, Buns Out On A Group Date

The second date of the episode didn’t go quite as smoothly as that one-on-one, though. For the first group date of the season, Charity invited Dotun, Tanner, Adrian, John, Caleb A, Caleb B, Kaleb K, Xavier, James, Aaron S, Sean, and Brayden to the beach for what she promised would be a relaxing day in the sun playing in the sand. But Jesse Palmer crashed — in a full blazer and jeans, might we add — to “introduce some friendly competition.” Next thing we knew, the guys had changed into skimpy swim briefs for the “4th Annual Bachelorette Dodgebowl.”

Since the losing team would head home early and the winning team would get to spend the night sharing cocktails and conversation with Charity, the competition was fierce. The Pink Team ultimately won, and MVP Adrian was allowed to tag along to the afterparty where drama started to brew.

After controversial first impression rose winner Brayden stirred the pot by telling Adrian he didn’t think he deserved the MVP award, Adrian told Charity that he had a daughter, so being away from her was very difficult. He also said he was frustrated that some men in the house (*cough* Brayden) were acting like they were on Spring Break, which she didn’t like one bit.

Who Got The Group Date Rose? The night ended on an awkward note, and neither Brayden nor Adrian received the rose. Charity gave it to John.

Date 3 Recap: Breaking Records (And Hearts) With Fellow Bachelorettes

The second group date of the season featured two special guests: former Bachelorette leads Rachel Recchia and Gabby Windey. For this date, Joey, John Henry, Michael, Warwick, Spencer, and Josh met the ladies at a park in downtown Los Angeles to compete for a chance to break a Bachelor Nation record in front of a live audience.

After the men answered a series of questions about kissing and their attraction to Charity, the Bachelorette trio decided Joey Graziadei made the best impression, so he and Lawson set a stopwatch and started smooching in the hopes of breaking The Bachelor‘s “longest kiss” record of around three minutes and 27 seconds held by Bachelor Sean Lowe and Lesley Murphy. The two locked lips for a whopping four minutes and 25 seconds, and as a reward, they got to spend the rest of the date together one-on-one.

When the rest of the guys headed back to the mansion and dished on their depressing date, Brayden was furious over the idea of Charity kissing one contestant in front of the other, so he decided to pack his bags and potentially head home. Meanwhile, Joey was opening up to Charity about his family over drinks and told her the reason his parents got a divorce when he was younger. “I think a lot of times that can be viewed as being in a broken home, but I felt love from both of them, and I think it’s also important to share why they ended up breaking up,” he said, before sharing that his dad came out.

“It’s amazing to see the love they still have for each other, and they were great parents,” Joey continued, sharing that his family’s journey taught him how important love is and made him a more accepting person. Lawson thanked him for opening up to her and ended the night by offering him the date rose.

Who Got The Group Date Rose? Joey. After that kiss, no one else stood a chance.

The Bachelor Season 20, Episode 2 Rose Ceremony Recap: Who Went Home Week 2?

Ahead of the cocktail party, Jesse Palmer arrived at the mansion to tell the guys the traditional evening event would be replaced by a daytime barbecue. While some contestants, like Dotun — who showed Charity his most cherished possession, his permanent resident card — used their time wisely, others, like Brayden and Adrian, used it to stir the pot some more. Brayden told Charity he doubted her character after hearing about her group date kiss with Joey, and Adrian doubled down on his “Spring Break” comments, calling out Brayden by name this time and telling Charity he called her “classless.” As a result of the truth bombs, Charity ditched the barbecue early and the men got ready for the rose ceremony.

Charity’s first rose ceremony rose went to Dotun, and her final two roses of the night went to ± drumroll please! — Adrian and Brayden, because of course! So who went home Night 1? The following men:

  • John Henry, 30-year-old underwater welder from Virginia Beach, Virginia
  • Josh, a 28-year-old Harvard grad student from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania
  • Kaleb K., a 26-year-old construction salesman from Norcross, Georgia
  • Spencer, a 32-year-old medical sales director from Moorpark, California
  • Caleb A, a 29-year-old resident physician from Ann Arbor, Michigan

See you back here next week for another chapter of Charity’s unconventional love story!
