Exactly 10 years after Cory Monteith‘s shocking death, his Glee co-star and former girlfriend Lea Michele is reflecting on their time together.

Earlier today, the actress posted a heartfelt tribute to Monteith — whom she began dating in 2012. Monteith was found dead in a Vancouver hotel room on July 13, 2013 as the result of a fatal heroin and alcohol overdose.

“Hey you. 10 years,” she captioned the black-and-white photo of the former flames. “It feels like only yesterday that you were here and yet a million years ago all at the same time.”

Michele continued, “I hold all of our memories in my heart where they will stay safe and never forgotten. We miss you every day and will never forget the light you to brought to us all. I miss you big guy.”

The Broadway star wasn’t the only Glee co-star to honor Monteith on the anniversary of his death. Chord Overstreet, who played Sam Evans on the show, opened up to his Instagram followers about how he’s dealt with the grief of losing his friend.

“10 years ago today I lost one of my best friends,” he wrote. “Feels like forever ago and at the same time it feels like it was just yesterday. I still struggle to process all of this some days, but music has definitely helped me heal and deal with a lot of these emotions when they come up. We all miss and love you Cory.”

Before his unexpected death, Monteith was best known for playing Finn Hudson — the high school football team’s beloved quarterback and Glee Club member — on Ryan Murphy‘s hit musical drama. Not only did Monteith and Michele share an off-screen romance; but Finn was also the love interest of her character, Rachel Berry. He was mourned onscreen in the heartbreaking Season 5 episode, “The Quarterback” — which die-hard Glee fans are still recovering from.

“Thank you all for helping me through this time with your enormous love & support,” Michele — who has since honored Monteith with a tattoo — posted shortly after he died. “Cory will forever be in my heart.”

Glee is currently streaming on Disney+ and Hulu.
