The Sandman will reportedly halt production on Season 2 due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.

Neil Gaiman, co-creator of the DC-inspired Netflix show, provided the update via his BlueSky Social account.

In his post, Gaiman said that he is not hopeful that the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) will engage in meaningful discussions with both writers and actors to resolve the ongoing strikes.

“SAG-AFTRA strike is on. Sandman has stopped shooting completely, along with everything else that was squeaking by without writers,” he wrote. “I hope that the AMPTP sees reason and gets back to the table with the actors and the writers. I have no reason at this point to think they will see reason.”

The next installment of the series has not been officially dubbed as “Season 2,” according to actor Mason Alexander Park, who portrays Desire on the show.

The actor, while speaking at Fan Expo San Francisco, shared how Netflix prefers not to label the forthcoming batch of episodes until more details emerge. Park hinted at an unconventional release of future episodes “in a really cool way” that can “take many forms.”

“Netflix has not gone on record as calling it a Season 2, on purpose,” said Park. “And so, I will, from now on and in the future, and possibly until the end of the universe not refer to it as Season 2 until we know what it is.”

The Sandman, which also stars Tom Sturridge, Kirby Howell-Baptiste and Gwendoline Christie, just to name a few, is based on the iconic work of Gaiman and a talented team of artists including Sam Kieth, Mike Dringenberg and Jill Thompson.

The modern dark fantasy series follows the journey of Morpheus, the Dream King, who makes it his mission to correct various human blunders that have occurred throughout his lifetime.

Season 1 is currently available to stream on Netflix.
