Hijack on Apple TV+ took viewers on a wild ride in Episode 4. But just when all hope seemed lost, an exclusive clip from Episode 5 suggests Flight KA29 could be landing safely and ahead of schedule.

After passengers narrowly escaped an attack from fighter jets, Episode 4 ended with Sam Nelson (Idris Elba) and David Miller (Marcus Garvey) tending to Lewis (Jack McMullen), one of the hijackers who was bleeding out from a stab wound.

In Decider’s exclusive look at Hijack Episode 5, “Less Than An Hour,” we see First Officer Anna Kovacs (Kaisa Hammarlund) back in the cockpit with a headset on. She’s calling down to Budapest air traffic control to request an emergency landing as lead hijacker Stuart (Neil Maskell), his accomplice Jamie (Aimée Kelly), and Sam look on in concern.

The official description for Episode 5, which premieres on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, July 19, is as follows: “Sam tries to convince the hijackers to land the plane. A list of demands reveals the dangerous organized crime gang behind the hijacking.” So is Sam successful? Why would the plane land ahead of schedule? And is First Officer Anna Kovacs able to warn anyone on the ground that they’re in danger? Here’s what we know.

The minute-long clip at the top of this page shows Anna sitting in the pilot’s seat, radioing down to Budapest air traffic control. Stuart warns her if she tries anything clever he’ll kill more passengers, so when air traffic control notes that Kingdom 29 has a red flag against it and asks for the flight’s status, Anna says, “We have had an incident onboard. All passengers are safe. But we now require your cooperation.”

Air traffic control presses Anna for confirmation, and she switches to Hungarian to ask for medical assistance. In English, Anna then explains, “I have English speakers on board so for them and for you, I can confirm the incident onboard has been resolved. But we now are in need of urgent medical assistance.”

Sam tells Anna to request doctors and an ambulance waiting on the runway, which we assume are for Lewis — though we’re still unsure how exactly Sam convinced Stuart to land. Anna complies with Sam’s request, but right before the clip concludes, she switches back to Hungarian and says, “But please understand…the hijack is still happening.” GASP!

With Budapest air traffic control successfully tipped off and on high alert, will Flight KA29 pull off an emergency landing? Will passengers be rescued on the runway? Or will Stuart change his mind and call off the plan in yet another high-stakes twist? As the flight time continues to dwindle, we’ll have to tune into the full episode on Wednesday, July 19 to see how the intense thriller plays out.

Hijack is streaming on Apple TV+ with new episodes premiering weekly on Wednesdays.
