Who is the cast of Sweet Magnolias Season 3?

JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Brooke Elliott, and Heather Headley play the titular Sweet Magnolias, a trio of successful women and lifelong friends who together try to make life as good as it can be for the community of Serenity. Swisher plays Maddie Townsend, manager of a women’s spa; Elliott plays Dana Sue Sullivan, the owner and head chef of Sullivan’s; and Headley plays Helen Decatur, an attorney.

Justin Bruening plays Maddie’s boyfriend Cal Maddox; Chris Klein plays Maddie’s ex-husband Bill Townsend; Brandon Quinn plays Dana Sue’s estranged husband Ronnie Sullivan; and Dion Johnstone plays Erik Whitley, a chef and possible suitor for Helen as long as Ryan Wingate (Michael Shenefelt) minds his own business!

Maddie’s kids are Kyle (Logan Allen), Ty (Carson Rowland), and Katie (Ella Grace Helton); Dana Sue’s daughter Annie is played by Anneliese Judge. There’s also Bill Townsend’s baby girl Rebecca, the result of an affair he had with Noreen Fitzgibbons (Jamie Lynn Spears). Bill’s not welcome around them anymore, so Noreen and baby Bex stay with Isaac Downey (Chris Medlin), a young chef at Sullivan’s.

Season 3’s big additions to the cast are Wynn Everett (Doom Patrol) as Kathy, a mysterious new arrival with a grudge against Dana Sue; and Janet Hubert (The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air), who will play Helen’s mother.

And just to be thorough, the recurring cast includes Harlan Drum as Ty’s ex CeCe Matney, Sam Ashby as Annie’s secret boyfriend Jackson Lewis, Tracey Bonner as Pastor June Wilkes, Caroline Lagerfelt as Maddie’s mother Paula, Artemis as Annie’s friend Lily, Brittany L. Smith as reporter Peggy Martin, Al-Jaleel Knox as Kyle’s friend Gabe Weatherspoon, Frank Oakley III as high school teacher Harlan Bixby, Chase Anderson as fresh produce dude Jeremy Reynolds, and Hunter Burke as yoga instructor Trotter Vidhyarkorn.

This show’s cast could literally populate a small town.

What happened in Sweet Magnolias Season 2?

You can check out our in-depth recap of Season 2 before diving into Season 3, or you can get the gist of it right here. When last we left Serenity, Cal had just gotten arrested for punching out a rowdy guy at Sullivan’s, Helen got a surprise proposal from Ryan, Dana Sue came into a whole lot of money from a surprise benefactor, and Mary Vaughn forbade her kids from seeing Maddie and Dana Sue’s kids. That should be enough to get you into Season 3, easy as pie.

Sweet Magnolias Season 3 debuts on Netflix on July 20.
