A brand new season of Sweet Magnolias is out on Netflix, which means that your weekend is gonna be filled to the brim with margaritas, drama, sass, and plenty of music. Any Southerner worth their salt knows that a major life moment just ain’t complete without a song or three — and Sweet Magnolias is about as southern as they come. Music has been a major part of the show ever since Season 1.
That continues to be the case in Season 3, especially with Maddie Townsend’s oldest boy Ty always having an acoustic guitar within arm’s reach. He even makes a new friend this season who has her own musical inclinations (although it remains to be seen if these two will make music together).
If you find your toe tappin’ while watching this Netflix hit, then you’ve come to the right place. Below you’ll find a list of the songs that are given a moment in the spotlight during the course of Season 3. And as you probably guessed, no list of Sweet Magnolias tunes would be complete without first giving it up for the show’s beloved theme song…
“Destination” by Nickel Creek
Heard In: Episodes 3×1 – 3×10
The Sweet Magnolias theme song continues to be this Nickel Creek tune. You know it, you love it, you dare not hit “skip intro” when it comes on.
“Tease Me” by Laurent Lombard
Heard In: Episode 3×3
If you’re gonna put a song to a scene of Cal Maddox getting all wet while washing his pickup truck, a track from a collection called “Sexy Blues” feels appropriate.
“When You Go” by Vox Rea
Heard In: Episode 3×4
This pensive tune can be heard briefly when Maddie’s ex Bill Townsend pulls out his phone to text Kathy Sullivan, completely unaware that he’s essentially texting a hornet’s nest.
“In the Wild” by Sam Clines and Jerry Thomas
Heard In: Episode 3×5
The soundtrack for Annie’s long-awaited 16th birthday party starts with this song from Sam Clines and Jerry Thomas.

And in case you’re wondering, the song that Ty plays for Annie on his acoustic guitar is to the tune of the traditional folk song “On Top of Old Smoky.”
“Let It Go (Leave It Alone)” by Matthew Griswold
Heard In: Episode 3×5
After the party, Ty gives Annie another gift: he drives her out of town for a late-night rendezvous with her boyfriend Jackson while this song plays.
“The Heart Wants What It Wants (Acoustic Version)” by Kelson
Heard In: Episode 3×6
The saddest song of the season coincides with the saddest scene of the season: our three Magnolias all pouring one out all alone after having the biggest fight of the series. Lots of margaritas were spilled to this song.
“With You” from Pippin
Heard In: Episode 3×10
The song that Dana Sue and Ronnie Sullivan walk down the aisle to is this show tune from the Broadway show Pippin. Of course, it’s not this version of the song; it’s a version of the song that was sung by Sweet Magnolias star Heather Headley, herself a Tony and Grammy award-winning singer.
“Celebration” by Kool and the Gang
Heard In: Episode 3×10
Did you really think Sweet Magnolias could have a wedding scene, even just a vow renewal scene, without including this perennial wedding reception classic?
“Must Be the Love” by Wesley Bright
Heard In: Episode 3×10
The finale ends with a reprise of “With You,” but before that, we hear “Must Be the Love” by Wesley Bright playing in the background of the reception.
All of Sweet Magnolias Season 3 is now streaming on Netflix.
