Paramount+ has unveiled a brand new trailer and the premiere date for Season 4 of its animated original series Star Trek: Lower Decks.

The forthcoming installment of the animated series will debut with two episodes on September 7 on the platform.

You can check out the trailer for the new season above, which premiered during San Diego Comic-Con.

According to the Season 4 synopsis, the crew of the U.S.S. Cerritos will seek to confront an unknown force that is destroying starships and threatening galactic peace. “Ensigns Mariner, Boimler, Tendi, Rutherford and Provisional Ensign T’Lyn are keeping up with their Starfleet duties, avoiding malevolent computers and getting stuck in a couple caves – all while encountering new and classic aliens along the way,” it adds.

It’s also noteworthy that the show’s new teaser art pays homage to Star Trek: IV: The Voyage Home.

The series stars Tawny Newsome as the voice of Ensign Beckett Mariner, Jack Quaid as Brad Boimler, Noël Wells as Ensign Tendi and Eugene Cordero as Ensign Rutherford. Also supporting the main cast is Dawnn Lewis as the voice of Captain Carol Freeman, Jerry O’Connell as the voice of Commander Jack Ransom, Fred Tatasciore as Lieutenant Shaxs and Gillian Vigman as Doctor T’Ana.

Star Trek: Lower Decks is created by Mike McMahan and produced by CBS’ Eye Animation Productions, CBS Studios’ animation arm; Secret Hideout; and Roddenberry Entertainment.

Titmouse, the Emmy Award-winning independent animation production company behind Big Mouth, is the show’s animation studio.
