Matt Damon is kissing and telling. Or should I say, he kissed and is now telling.

He and his Oppenheimer co-star Emily Blunt sat down together on LADbible‘s “Agree To Disagree” YouTube segment last Wednesday (July 19). The first question the two were asked was if they should tell someone if they have bad breath, to which both of them “strongly agreed,” especially when filming “intimate scenes.”

“When you do intimate scenes, there’s an etiquette,” Blunt explained, which involved brushing your teeth, mouthwash, and even sticking a piece of gum to the roof of your mouth for good measure.

Damon then recalled how he “had to kiss Scarlett Johansson” while filming the 2011 family comedy We Bought a Zoo, which she was not prepped for.

“Can you imagine how horrible that was for me?” he cheekily asked.

“Can you imagine how awful that was?,” Blunt quipped. “It’s such a shame, she has such terrible lips and everything!”

“It was hell!,”Damon joked, as he continued with his odorous anecdote.

“What happened was we did a shot before lunch,” he began to explain, “and it was like this nice little two shot that ended in the kiss.”

He described it as “really good,” and revealed that they both presumed they were done filming kiss scenes for the day, as they headed to lunch.

“She ate, like, an onion sandwich for lunch!” he exclaimed.

“Good for you! Good for you, Scarlett,” Blunt told the camera.

Damon continued, “And she came in and [director] Cameron Crowe had set the camera up and it was, like, a tight shot of the kiss. And she goes ‘Aw shit! I literally just had – I had, like, an onion sandwich.”

Blunt then asked if he was “still sort of slightly aroused” by kissing the beautiful Black Widow star, to which he replied that he was ultimately “making fun of her the entire time about her onion breath that [he] didn’t even smell.”

“Cause her breath smells like roses!,” he cried out.

Other stars have shared kissing scene stories that rival Damon and Johansson’s, including Glee stars Harry Shum Jr. and Jenna Ushkowitz, who said they would “eat the worst shit” in preparation for their numerous on-screen smooches in order to “make it a little more interesting.”

You can watch Damon and Johansson’s smelly snog in We Bought a Zoo on Disney+, and you can catch Damon and Blunt in Oppenheimer, which is currently in theaters.
