Hart to Heart returned to Peacock for its third season on July 6, bringing us more deep, unfiltered conversations between host and comedian Kevin Hart and his A-list celebrity guests. Thus far, this season’s guests have included Sofia Vergara, Will Ferrell, and Issa Rae, to name just a few.

This Thursday (July 27), the seventh episode of Season 3 drops on Peacock and features comedian Bill Maher. This exclusive clip shared with Decider gives us a glimpse at Hart’s interview with Maher, where Maher deems stand-up to be the comedy medium with the “most freedom.”

“Look, if you do a show, like Jimmy Kimmel or Jimmy Fallon — great guys, great shows — but you have to be much more careful,” he tells Hart in the clip. “You know, we’re not gonna throw f-bombs around there.”

Maher then proceeds to describe his HBO show Real Time with Bill Maher as “much looser.”

“And that’s why I love HBO,” he adds. “And they’ve been great.”

However, he notes that there is still an “ultimate, free dimension” that he feels he can only reach through his stand-up comedy and his podcast.

“They are not a politically correct crowd,” he tells Hart. “They’re my people. They want to see me do what I do and I want to do it for them, and they don’t want me to be any way pulling any punches.”

Viewers of Real Time With Bill Maher will no doubt be thrilled to see Maher for the first time in a few months; his popular and long-running late night show has been on hiatus since the WGA strike began in May 2023.

New episodes of Hart to Heart air weekly on Thursdays on Peacock. Watch the full clip from the latest episode in the video above.
