Jeopardy contestant Andrew Knowles grossed out some viewers at home when he showed off his special talent at the top of Tuesday’s (July 25) episode.

“Yeah, so I figured out at a young age I have a long tongue, and the whole nose-to-tongue thing was easy,” Knowles explained. “And then one day I heard that, you know, touching your elbow, or licking your elbow basically, is impossible. And I tried it, and I was able to do it.”

Surprisingly enough, host Ken Jennings then dared him to “prove it.”

Knowles successfully licked his elbow as the audience and his fellow contestants cheered him on.

“Wow, look at that. I can do the nose thing, but I didn’t know there was a whole Olympic level that I knew nothing of,” Jennings remarked.

The clip then showed Jennings and Knowles standing side-by-side as they touched their noses with their tongues.

Though the host seemed to be enjoying himself, viewers at home were not happy that Jennings asked him to prove his bizarre talent.

Jeopardy has just jumped the shark into classless mediocrity when a contestant just licked his elbow with his tongue. Sad that the only intelligent game show on tv has stooped to this level. Thanks @kenjennings for lowering the standard of a once great show,” one particularly heated fan remarked.

Others seemed to agree. “Ken Jennings brought Jeopardy to a new low by asking this contestant to touch his elbow with his tongue,” someone tweeted in response to a clip from the moment. “Alex Trebek must be rolling over in his grave. This is not the Gong Show!”

On the other hand, some viewers were rooting for Knowles after his theatrics. “I want the tongue guy to win!” one fan stated.

At the beginning of each episode, the host typically gives each contestant the chance to share a fun fact about themselves.

Sometimes, this will allow contestants to reveal that they once made an appearance in The Notebook or, in this case, that they just have a really “long tongue.”

Knowles, who is a psychology resident hailing from Portland, Oregon, earned second place during Tuesday’s episode with $6,701.
