Marvel’s Secret Invasion miniseries has just taken the MCU empire down a notch, with its sixth and final episode garnering a rancid score of 13% on Rotten Tomatoes. This is reportedly the lowest score any Marvel production has ever received on the review-aggregation site, per DiscussingFilm.

The series highlights Samuel L. Jackson‘s Nick Fury, who is finally leading his own Marvel endeavor. With a star-studded cast featuring Cobie Smulders, Ben Mendelsohn and Emilia Clarke in the leading line-up, the series had promise for Marvel fans.

The series finale, entitled “Home,” was released on Disney+ yesterday (July 27). Some outlets have described the episode as “predictable and messy,” while others said it left viewers “with just as many questions as answers.”

As one Twitter user so poetically penned, “Ouch.”

This news may feel like an exceptionally staggering blow to Marvel Studios and its streaming provider, as it was recently revealed that the show’s budget was $211.6 million across its six episodes. This made it the second most expensive TV show on a per episode basis.

Viewers on Twitter have been giving their input, deeming the series the “biggest waste of $220 million,” and proclaiming that the rotten rating was “deserved.”

While one viewer described the episode as “one of the worst season finales” they had ever seen, another went so far as to take it out on MCU, which they believe is “losing its mojo,” while one more blasted Disney+, calling the streaming service “a mistake.”

However, some are still supporting the series. One fan wrote, “it was really good imo,” and another is still holding out for a potential Season 2, saying that Secret Invasion “started out really strong and then just fizzled. I’m going to give it a second chance.”
