TMZ recently got in touch with Todd Chrisley‘s attorney, Jay Surgent, who revealed the Chrisley Knows Best star and his wife, Julie Chrisley, both seem to be having a rough time in prison.

According to Surgent, Chrisley believes he’s being “treated differently” from the other people in the minimum security prison he was sent to because of his “celebrity status.”

The star claims someone took a photo of him while he was sleeping and believes his mail has been “getting destroyed,” though TMZ reports “he has no clue what the motive would be for someone doing that.”

Surgent also alleged the reality couple are both dealing with “terrible” living conditions as they complete the first few months of their respective sentences.

Todd is currently completing his sentence at the Federal Prison Camp Pensacola in Florida, which Surgent claims is “plagued by bad plumbing, possible mold, and no A.C. to help combat the brutal heat,” TMZ reports.

Julie, who is at the medium security prison Federal Correctional Institution Marianna in Kentucky, is reportedly dealing with similar conditions.

Todd has reportedly applied to switch to home confinement.

Their children, Savannah and Chase Chrisley, recently weighed in on the conditions their parents have been living in after paying them a visit.

“It’s a nightmare,” Chase said during an episode of Savannah’s podcast, Unlocked w/ Savannah Chrisley, per CNN. “Now they both have no air conditioning. They’re both in states where it gets to be 100+ degrees, and there’s no air conditioning.”

“I mean, Chase, it is prison so we’re not going to sit here and act like it should be the Four Seasons,” Savannah replied. “It’s prison, so people don’t have any sympathy for it.”

The couple reported to prison in January of this year after they were convicted in June 2022 for bank fraud, tax evasion and conspiring to defraud the IRS. Todd was sentenced to 12 years in prison, while Julie was sentenced to seven. She was also convicted of wire fraud and obstruction of justice.

Both were ordered to pay restitution and complete three years of supervised release at the end of their sentences.

The family rose to prominence on Chrisley Knows Best, which ran for 10 seasons on the USA Network until the Chrisleys’ legal problems began.
