Last week’s Valentine’s Day-themed episode of And Just Like That... introduced us to “well-hung Disney prince” Giuseppe (Sebastiano Pigazzi), a handsome Italian poet who finds himself trotted out on The Drew Barrymore Show to hawk Anthony’s (Mario Cantone) bread. This week’s all-new episode of And Just Like That… reveals that Giuseppe’s tenure on the Max show is going to last longer than his stint as a Hot Fella. Giuseppe is the latest dreamy heartthrob to find himself cast in the role of love interest for the Sex and the City gang.

The delightful twist? Giuseppe is Anthony’s new love interest. It’s a decision that finally gives Anthony his second chance at a happy ending after Willie Garson‘s untimely death wrote husband Stanford off the show. More importantly, it gives And Just Like That... fans, like yours truly, an opportunity to swoon over one of the most dashing male characters we’ve seen on TV in a while. Thank you, And Just Like That… showrunners, for making Sebastiano Pigazzi’s incredibly charming Giuseppe more than a one (episode) and done character.

When And Just Like That… originally reunited us with all of the Sex and the City characters, we learned that Anthony had found a passion for baking bread during the pandemic. So much so, he launched a business called Hot Fellas where beefcake dudes in tight, short costumes delivered fresh bread to the horny ladies of Manhattan. Last week, Anthony learned that he had been invited to promote the business on The Drew Barrymore Show. The only problem with this incredible opportunity? Anthony had also just discovered that the majority of his Hot Fellas were dabbing in HGH. He needed a more family-friendly hottie to trot out in front of Drew and her daytime audience.

Charlotte (Kristin Davis) comes to the rescue by finding Giuseppe, a real-life Romeo writing poems on an old typewriter in a stationery shop. She convinces the impoverished poet to moonlight as a Hot Fella, but there’s a twist neither she nor Anthony saw coming. Giuseppe is insanely hung. He’s an instant hit with Drew Barrymore and her audience, forcing Anthony to basically beg Giuseppe to continue on as a Hot Fella.

In And Just Like That… Season 2 Episode 8 “A Hundred Years Ago,” we learn that Giuseppe has indeed become a Hot Fella — and Anthony’s most popular one at that. However, things take a turn when Giuseppe reveals he is gay. This information, plus the fact that Giuseppe seems to be flirting with Anthony, freaks the older singleton out. So much so, Anthony decides to fire Giuseppe.

Giuseppe takes this all in his stride, giving the obviously flustered Anthony some space before returning to the bakery for work. When he presses Anthony on why he was “fired” in the first place, Giuseppe learns that, yes, Anthony is attracted to him and doesn’t want to get involved with an employee. Giuseppe then quits and kisses Anthony, thereby solving the conundrum.

On paper and in practice, Giuseppe is the perfect love interest for Anthony. The beloved SATC character has taken an enhanced role in And Just Like That…, sometimes even filling in the gap left by the incomparable Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall). So it makes sense to give Anthony his own version of Samantha’s best boy-toy, Smith Jerrod (Jason Lewis), a handsome younger man who stuns with his sincerity. Anthony won’t just get the fun of hooking up with Giuseppe, but it seems he’ll find his own stubborn, stressed-out worldview challenged by someone with a decidedly more rose-tinted perspective on things. Giuseppe will both sweeten and spice up Anthony’s storyline.

But as much as Anthony deserves a hot romance, And Just Like That… viewers also deserve some fresh meat to ogle. And Just Like That…‘s writers totally understand that Giuseppe is a hottie with a body. (Why else introduce him in a skin-tight suit specifically to show off his package?) More importantly, Giuseppe has already proven himself to be so much more than just a pretty face. He has a dashing personality, an aura of penetrating intelligence, and a sense of humor. Giuseppe is romantic lead perfection. Which is why I’m thrilled that And Just Like That… is doubling down on giving him a romance we can root for.
