Rebel Wilson Reveals She Was Injured by a Prop Gun on Her Latest Movie Set

Rebel Wilson, who is currently filming the independent movie Bride Hard in Savannah, Georgia, revealed that she is recovering after an on-set incident left her with stitches on her face last week.

Wilson revealed on social media on Aug. 3 that a stunt left her with bloody gash that required three stitches on her nose.

“NOT the way I wanted to end this movie!” Wilson captioned an Instagram Story. “3 stitches and in hospital last night after a stunt accident at 4am.”

This week, she revealed that the accident on set involved a prop gun, which hit her in the face.

“I’ve actually been healing, quite amazing,” she told fans in a second Instagram Story, in which she showed off her wound. “The stitches have dissolved out from my on-set accident last week… I got hit in the face with the butt of a gun. It was a complete accident and such a shock. Luckily, I’m healing very well so I wanted to say thank you for everybody’s well wishes. I hopefully will be totally fine.”

According to Deadline, Bride Hard is about a “badass secret agent Sam (Wilson) who has been tasked with one of her hardest missions yet – being a Maid of Honor for her childhood best friend.”

The movie has been able to film this summer in spite of the current SAG-AFTRA strike because of an interim agreement which allows certain independently produced films to proceed without being in violation of the strike order.

Wilson isn’t the only star to be involved in a prop gun incident on set in recent years; Alec Baldwin was embroiled in controversy when a gun the actor was holding discharged on the Rust set, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuring assistant director Joel Souza in October 2021.

Prosecutors dropped manslaughter charges against Baldwin in April, and the actor recently celebrated wrapping filming on Rust in May.
