Will There Be A ‘Heart of Stone 2’? What We Know About a Possible Sequel to Gal Gadot’s Netflix Movie

Gal Gadot is back in action in Heart of Stone, a new Netflix spy movie that could potentially set Gadot up with her own James Bond-esque franchise.

Directed by Tom Harper, with a screenplay from Greg Rucka and Allison Schroeder, Heart of Stone follows a top agent named Rachel Stone (Gadot), who works for the super-secret, super-elite organization known as The Charter. To MI6, Rachel Stone is just a lowly agent who has never worked in the field. But to The Charter, Rachel Stone is the best of the best. So when bad guys threaten to steal the important MacGuffin item known as “the Heart”—an all-powerful computer—it’s up to Stone to protect it.

Basically, Heart of Stone is a lot of Gal Gadot kicking ass and taking names. And at the end of the movie, Heart of Stone sees Rachel assembling a new team of heroes. It’s an ending that certainly leaves the door open for more movies to come. But will there be a Heart of Stone sequel? Scroll down to find out what we know about a possible Heart of Stone 2.

Will there be a Heart of Stone 2?

There is no official news on a Heart of Stone 2 sequel movie at this time. That said, Netflix likely is hoping for a Gal Gadot action movie franchise, to follow up the streamer’s Chris Hemsworth Extraction action movie franchise. Whether or not that happens will depend on how well the first Heart of Stone movie does for Netflix this weekend.

Director Tom Harper has been open about his hopes for a Heart of Stone sequel, but noted that it depended on how well the movie does. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he said, “There’s plenty that I’d like to explore more with Rachel in that regard. There’s plenty of rich territory with Rachel, with the Heart, with the Charter. Ultimately we have to see how well it does and see how people like it, but I’m excited about it.”

Heart of Stone 2 release date:

Heart of Stone 2 does not yet have a release date, due to the fact that Heart of Stone 2 does not officially exist.

Also, Netflix already has another Gal Gadot movie with a franchise in the works: Red Notice, the action movie she made with The Rock and Ryan Gosling. Red Notice 2 and Red Notice 3 are reportedly in the works, according to a 2022 Deadline article. However, Netflix has not confirmed that news. In a recent interview with Collider in June 2023, Gadot confirmed there was a Red Notice 2 script, and hinted that production would start soon. (Of course, it won’t start before the SAG-AFTRA strike is resolved.) So if Red Notice 2 and 3 are happening, it may be awhile before Gadot’s schedule clears up for a possible Heart of Stone sequel. Therefore, it seems unlikely a sequel, if it happens, would hit Netflix before 2026.

But this is all speculation. For now, we’ll have to wait and see.
