If you’re watching the Red, White and Royal Blue movie on Amazon Prime today, be sure to watch until the very end of the credits. Because not only does Red, White and Royal Blue come with an end-credits scene, it also comes with a touching tribute to star Taylor Zakhar Perez’s late sister, Kristy.

Directed by Matthew Lopez, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Ted Malawer, the movie is based on the best-selling 2019 romance novel written by Casey McQuiston. Perez stars as Alex Claremont-Diaz, the First Son, who just can’t stand his professional rival, the British prince Henry (Nicholas Galitzine). But after an unfortunate, cake-related mishap at the Royal Wedding, Alex and Henry are forced to play nice. Eventually, they fall in love.

Like the book, the movie is funny, sexy, sweet, and romantic. And if you watch until the end, you’ll get a little bonus scene, just before a heartbreaking dedication.

Does Red, White and Royal Blue have an end credits scene?

Yes, if you stick around until the very end of the Red, White & Royal Blue credits—after all of the songs and logos have been listed out—you’ll be treated to a short and sweet clip of Alex and Henry, just after they’ve knocked over the royal wedding cake.

It goes like this: The boys are lying on the ground, covered in $75,000 worth of buttercream frosting and vanilla cake. Alex turns to Henry and whispers, “Do you think anyone noticed?” Henry, unable to answer, simply closes his eyes and leans his head back in utter mortification. With that, the screen goes black. But that’s not quite the end.

What does Red, White and Royal Blue dedication “For Kristy” mean?

There is one final dedication, before the movie ends: “For Kristy.” That’s a tribute to star Taylor Zakhar Perez’s older sister, Kristy Lopez, who died earlier this year. Perez announced the tragic loss on his Instagram on June 4, 2023, just two months before the release of Red, White and Royal Blue.

Perez explained in his statement posted to Instagram that Kristy Lopez died after being diagnosed with Stage Four colorectal cancer and that the loss was “so fast, unexpectedly and aggressively.” She was 44 years old.

“Rest in power, my wonderful sister Kristy,” Perez wrote in the caption. “She was the proudest sister, knew every quote, dance, and song from my projects, and was so looking forward to seeing RWRB that I can’t imagine it premiering without her. She will remain our guide walking with us through life and celebrating us as we continue to grow with her in spirit.”

In the post, Perez shared a photo of himself and his sister from his childhood, and explained, “This photo was taken in Chicago in 1993 at our dad’s auto-body shop. The place that raised us and gave us our family values, work ethic, and understanding of what it takes to make a buck. We all went through this “life training” and she was with us guiding us every step of the way. She taught me to not sweat the small stuff and love unconditionally, she also taught me to “fuck it” and know how lucky we were.”

No doubt it meant a lot to Perez and his family to see their sister honored at the end of Red, White and Royal Blue. It’s a small dedication, but a way for her to be remembered for many years to come.
