Tarek El Moussa has come under fire — again — for his “deceptive” statement regarding his upcoming condo development. One of the tenants who currently lives on the property has called out the HGTV star, who has claimed he’s being “dragged for false accusations and misconceptions.”

Earlier this month, the Los Angeles Times published a scathing report in which rent-controlled tenants — whose previous landlord is currently in federal prison for lighting their homes on fire in an effort to kick them out — revealed they were served eviction notices so El Moussa could begin the $50 million renovation project.

Following the article, El Moussa — who is married to Selling Sunset star Heather Rae El Moussa — slammed the “false accusations” on Instagram and assured followers that he did not personally deliver the eviction notices. Instead, the Flipping El Moussas star promised his “intentions are to do good” when it comes to building what he previously referred to as the “super cool, super modern” 138-unit building.

“He basically called us liars,” Claire Letmon, one of the tenants getting evicted, told People.

Despite requesting multiple times to meet with El Moussa in-person, Letmon claimed that the tenants being impacted have not had direct communication with him since July 14. Moreover, he allegedly blocked the Hartsook Tenants Association on social media and stopped replying to any of their emails.

According to a representative for El Moussa, partners of the project reached out to the tenants’ lawyers for the first time in early March. A meeting between the NoHo 138 partners and the tenants will reportedly “be set up as soon as possible,” per People. Letmon confirmed that they received an email about the meeting last Friday (Aug. 4) — the same day the story came out.

When the Hartsook tenants found out their homes would be torn down and they would have to relocate ahead of the 2024 start date, Letmon said it was “super triggering.” While she acknowledged that it wasn’t El Moussa who delivered the eviction notices, the current owner — a.k.a. the man sitting behind bars — approved it specifically for El Moussa’s plans.

“When you post videos standing in front of the arson damage, talking about the biggest flip of your life and this opportunity to make so much money, you’re exploiting the crimes that the landlord committed against the people who used to live here and you’re doing it with a smile on your face,” she said, referring to a recent Instagram post in which El Moussa bragged about how “lucky” he was to find the property.

Letmon also claimed that the developers behind the project lied about having no relationship to the outgoing landlord, Arthur Aslanian. However, the company reportedly designing the building belongs to the Aslanian’s brother, according to People.

Calling it her “miracle home,” Letmon added, “It would be incredibly heartbreaking to watch this place get bulldozed — and the trees, and the garden, and just the history that’s here.”
