When one streaming door closes, another one opens. The season finale of Jenny Han’s popular coming-of-age dramedy The Summer I Turned Pretty premieres later tonight (August 17) on Prime Video. Based on the New York Times best-selling series by Harlan Coben, your next YA obsession centers on Mickey Bolitar (Jaden Michael), a teen who moves to Kasselton, New Jersey to live with his aunt (the great Constance Zimmer) after the sudden death of his father. But it soon becomes apparent that Kasselton is shrouded in mystery.

Per Amazon, “With the help of his friends — the inventive Spoon (Adrian Greensmith) and the secretive Ema (Abby Corrigan) — Mickey pulls back the sleepy facade of Kasselton to reveal a dark underground that may hold the answers to decades of disappearances, deaths, and legends… and perhaps even his own complex family history.”

Nope. But we understand the confusion. Corben signed a five-year deal with Netflix in 2018, adapting a number of projects for the streamer.

But the writer’s Netflix deal doesn’t cover his Myron Bolitar series or its YA spin-off following Mickey Bolitar, which is why Shelter is on Prime Video.
