When will The Crown Season 6 be released?

The Crown will return for its sixth and final season in fall 2023, per Town & Country. The series reportedly began filming Season 6 in September 2022, per Collider, just two months prior to the release of Season 5.

Although the exact release date has yet to be announced, fans can rest assured that the new season will be streaming by the end of the year, as the show’s official account on X (the platform formerly known as Twitter), shared that the series would be “coming [in] 2023″ when they revealed the first look at McVey and Bellamy’s Prince Harry and Kate Middleton.

What years will The Crown Season 6 cover?

According to Vogue, The Crown‘s next season will begin in the year 1997, where Season 5 ended. Princess Diana (who will be played by Australian actress Elizabeth Debicki) died in August 1997, and Season 6 will cover her death with a controversial open casket scene.

Prince William didn’t meet his beloved wife Kate until 2001, when they met at St. Andrew’s University in Scotland, per ELLE. Thus, the sixth season will cover, at minimum, the years 1997 until 2001.
