Can you feel the Kenergy? Anyone who has seen the new behind-the-scenes video of Ryan Gosling filming his character’s signature song “I’m Just Ken” in Greta Gerwig‘s Barbie certainly can!

The footage, released yesterday by Atlantic Records, has already garnered 1.2 million views on YouTube, and if you’ve seen it, you’d understand why.

The video alternates between clips of the film and behind-the-scenes snippets of Gosling in dance rehearsals, his fellow Kens recording background vocals in the recording studio, the instrumentalists — including Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash — who rock the musical score, and Gerwig laughing hysterically at Gosling during production.

Gosling is definitely more than just the self-proclaimed “man behind the tan,” as the footage shows him giving his all while perfecting the choreography, and unashamedly staring into the camera while shooting the macho musical number.

The compilation also highlights the work of his Ken co-stars, who include Simu Liu, Ncuti Gatwa, and Kingsley Ben-Adir, among many others.

The song even made its debut on the Billboard Hot 100 on Aug. 5, occupying the #87 spot.

According to Vanity Fair, Gosling asked to sing the song — which was originally written by the film’s executive soundtrack producer Mark Ronson — after hearing it for the first time. And for those curious as to whose vocals are really behind the power ballad, Ronson confirmed Gosling was in fact the one singing.

“He really got [that] it had to walk this line of not being funny or parody,” Ronson told the outlet. “But obviously, the song is also kind of ridiculous at times. So he was really amazing, and when he really did start hitting the big notes, I was like, this dude is a vocal powerhouse!”

Gosling may sing “no one knows how hard I try” as the beloved Ken. But trust us, Ryan. We do know.

Barbie is available in theaters.
