And Just Like That… Sex and the City fans were finally reunited with the beloved Samantha Jones.

While Kim Cattrall‘s cameo in the SATC spin-off’s Season 2 finale was teased as a phone call between her and Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) months ago, fairly few details were disclosed surrounding the context of the conversation.

The episode, entitled “The Last Supper Part Two: Entrée,” opens with Carrie leaving a voicemail for Aidan (John Corbett) to check on him and his son, the latter of whom we learned was in the ER during last week’s episode. As she is about to “shift into party gear” to prepare for the “last supper” to bid farewell to her iconic brownstone apartment, her phone rings, and Samantha’s name graces the caller ID.

“Hello, London,” Carrie greets her. “What’s shakin’, lady?”

We then see a fully accessorized Samantha in a taxi, donning a red dress and a shiny silver jacket, clutching a lime green purse.

“My flight’s three hours delayed, Carrie!” she exclaims. “I won’t be able to make it there in time.”

“In time for what?” Carrie asks, confused as to Samantha’s whereabouts.

“The last supper,” Samantha replies, explaining that Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) had already filled her in on the grandiose goodbye event to her former home, and that she had plans to surprise her there.

While Carrie assured her that she is “very surprised” by the news, Samantha expressed how “fucking furious” she was that she couldn’t fulfill her plan of flying to New York from Heathrow for an overnight

“Well, it is your apartment, and I have to pay my respects. So, uh, put me on speaker,” she instructs Carrie, who is the only one — other than her cat— in the apartment.

“Thank you for everything, you fucking fabulous, fabulous flat!” she declares in a British accent.

When Carrie questions her about the accent, she responds, “Who’s Samantha? This is Annabelle Bronstein,” referring to the alter ego she assumed to get access to the lavish Soho House private pool in the brutal summer heat in the SATC‘s Season 6 episode “Boy, Interrupted.”

“I’m from Indja! Ta and cheerio! And have a great night,” she says, as she signs off with a kiss.

Despite the drama leading up to Cattrall’s cameo — which she originally told Variety she would never do — the call fulfilled Parker’s description she shared with The Hollywood Reporter in June: “a really sentimental, funny, sweet moment that is timed perfectly for a specific event that’s happening in Carrie’s life.”

The moment might have felt fleeting for fans, but the love was certainly there.

And to Samantha Jones: honey, we sure missed you.
