Is Grant Gustin in ‘The Flash’ Movie?

The Flash movie is now streaming on Max, which means I can finally figure out once and for all if this movie is just one big prank that D.C. and Warner Bros. are pulling on all of us.

The Ezra Miller superhero movie was largely considered to be one of D.C.’s biggest box office bombs in recent years when it failed to make back its roughly $300 million production budget. But perhaps the movie will fare better on streaming, especially now that audiences know about all of those juicy cameos. The Flash cameos include everyone from Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman to Nicolas Cage as Superman. There’s even a controversial cameo of a dead guy!

But what about a cameo for the beloved actor who has played Barry Allen on The CW series The Flash for nearly a decade? Does he get any time to shine in The Flash movie?

Is Grant Gustin in The Flash movie?

Grant Gustin is not in The Flash movie, sadly. There were rumors that Gustin might be in the film, given the large list of The Flash cameos.

Unfortunately, director Andy Muschietti said in an interview with Nerdist that there simply was not space to include any of the “DC characters from TV.”

“The list of cameos was huge,” the director said. “So obviously we played with the idea of including DC characters from TV, but we just had to pick.”

Look, we get it, but it is a little rude, considering that Ezra Miller, a controversial figure to say the least, got a cameo on The Flash TV series, during the “Crisis on Infinite Earth” crossover event, which aired in 2020. The two Barry Allens compare costumes (Miller dubs Gustin’s far more “breathable,”) and marvel over the wonders of alternate universes. It’s all very fun and comic book-y.

But The Flash movie couldn’t return the favor with a cameo for Gustin? This was a perfect opportunity to pair these two speedy dudes up again. We don’t want to see Gal Gadot, we want to see Gustin!

Oh, well. Gustin fans can at least catch the actor in the new FreeVee romantic comedy, Puppy Love. And fans of Ezra Miller (if they have any of those left!) can watch the 2023 The Flash movie, now streaming on Max.
