Kelly Ripa has just revealed the awkward way in which she learned that Mark Consuelos hired housekeepers when he was living alone in Vancouver.

During the opening chat on this morning’s episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, the duo discussed a study claiming it’s “important” for married couples to talk about work. While Ripa shut it down and joked that they “have to have some mystery” in their lives, Consuelos said they used to talk about work before they began hosting Live together.

“When we didn’t work together we would talk about work. Now we don’t really talk about work, we just talk about [executive producer Michael] Gelman … Endless material,” he joked, to which Ripa replied, “We do. We relive the day and all the wonderful things Gelman brought into our lives.”

Despite it no longer relating to them, Ripa continued to read the study.

“They’re saying it’s a way of regularly checking in with your partner to discuss obligations, demands, needs that aren’t being met, be willing to share duties and responsibilities,” she said. “This is not what this study is on but there have been myriad studies that when there’s a two-parent household where both parents work, the woman of the house still tends to take on the majority of the household responsibilities.”

The longtime host then clapped back at her husband when he told her that he’s the one who deals with the mechanic when their air conditioning malfunctions.

“I would’ve taken all of the AC [problems] if you would’ve learned how to put a singular dish into a singular dishwasher,” she snarked. “Mark’s like, ‘I did the dishes, I put my plate in the sink.’ I’m like, ‘And then what do you think happens?’”

When Consuelos pointed out that his kitchen was “pristine” when he lived alone in Vancouver during filming for Riverdale, Ripa reminded him that he had “three housekeepers.”

“I met the housekeepers. Do you want to know how I learned about the housekeepers?” she asked the audience. “I walked out of the bedroom naked. That’s right! I said it. Naked! And that’s when I met the housekeepers — one of which was a guy. So I think he learned his lesson — to announce himself before he enters.”
