Danny Romalotti will be back in Genoa City before you know it.

After a long few months, Michael Damian, the actor who plays Danny in The Young and the Restless, is slated to return to the long-running soap opera for multiple episodes at the end of next month. According to Soap Opera Digest, Damian will reprise his fan-favorite role on the CBS drama beginning on Thursday, Sept. 28.

The actor — who began his career as a member of his family band, The Weirz — first joined the series in 1981 after he was discovered performing his single on American Bandstand. He remained on the show until 1998 — but continued to make frequent guest appearances over the years.

He most recently came back to Genoa City in March 2023 for the show’s 50th-anniversary celebration, where his character appeared at Phyliss’ (Michelle Stafford) memorial service and performed “There’ll Never Be Another You.” At the time, Damian — who has released five albums and three Top 40 hits — referred to the scene as a highlight of both his acting and musical career.

“It was very emotional because I was on the set, performing this song, and the whole entire cast is there on the set, and I don’t recall ever doing a concert in the past as Daniel Romalotti where the entire cast is present,” he told Soap Central. “So, this was very unique and very special to have this opportunity. And the song has multiple meanings.”

He added, “It even talks about, ‘I’ve got my friends, they’re always there,’ and I look over, and there’s Lauren and Michael and Traci and all of my friends, and Danny is thinking obviously about Cricket and also Phyllis, who’s been a huge part of his life.”

Damian, however, has kept himself rather busy when he’s not guest-starring on Y&R. He recently produced and directed Paris Christmas Waltz — the sequel to his 2020 Hallmark movie The Christmas Waltz that will air this upcoming holiday season. He also produced last year’s Lindsay Lohan-led Netflix movie, Falling For Christmas, which marked the star’s first major acting gig in years.

And if that’s not enough, Damian is teaming up with Lohan again for Irish Wish, which will premiere on Netflix in 2024.

Despite having a packed schedule, the actor previously said he’s always willing to make a guest appearance on Y&R, according to Soap Opera Digest.

“As long as I’m not out of the country working on another movie, I can make Y&R happen,” he told the outlet back in March.

The Young and the Restless airs weekdays at 12:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
